Energy-efficient skylight construction with a U value of 0.7
The R&D specialists at Brakel Atmos have developed an HR glass construction that is unique in the skylight sector. The unique composition of this glass construction achieves a U value of 0.7 placing it favourably within the context of future standards for energy conservation and sustainability. This glass construction delivers an average energy-saving of 53.8% compared with traditional glazing systems using HR++ glass.
In recent years, the improvement of U values for glass has received a lot of attention. However, because relatively large amounts of energy can be lost through glazing constructions/profiles little has been done. The BA-HR 0.7 glazing construction has changed all this. While developing this construction all of the components used in a glass construction were subject to rigourous research. The entire composition of the glass construction was studied and apart from the glazing, extra attention was given to the development of improved glazing profiles, glazing frames and fixings of this four sided frame system. The result: a sustainable glass construction with an excellent U value of 0.7 W/m²K. Determined in accordance with NEN-EN 410, NEN-EN 673 and NEN-EN 717-1.
