Important tests of Brakel smoke ventilation systems!

It is vitally important that systems perform in practice what they promise to perform. For this reason the European Commission stipulates that life-saving products such as smoke and heat extraction systems are tested by independent accredited authorities. So all Brakel® systems are provided with the correct CE certification. Recently, a number of tests took place on the Brakel® Fumetica louvred ventilator and the Brakel® Ventria top hung window.

Brakel® Fumetica louvred ventilator EN 12101-2 tested

This new double louvred ventilator is used mainly in distribution centres, storage warehouses and production halls where a large extraction capacity is extremely important. Thanks to the large dimensions - up to 7.5 m² geometric surface area - the Fumetica is extremely suitable for the effective extraction of large amounts of (contaminated) hot air and smoke.

Brakel® Fumetica: duration test 10,000 (Re300) dual purpose tested

The Fumetica has been tested as a dual purpose ventilator. This means that the ventilator can be applied for both SHEV and natural ventilation. The Fumetica has been tested open and closed 10,300 times for fire safety (Re300).

 

Brakel® Fumetica: dynamic snow load test

The largest type of Brakel® Fumetica: - with a width of 2.5 m and a length of 3 m - has been tested with different control options. Here, the louvres were loaded in accordance with guidelines with sandbags in order to simulate a snow load situation. The controls had to do their utmost to overcome this weight and the own louvre weight.

 

Brakel® Fumetica: statistical wind load test successful

With a statistical wind load test, the Fumetica louvred ventilator is laid upside down and, in accordance with guidelines, loaded with sandbags. After 10 minutes, the louvres must not suffer from plastic deformation. The test was carried out at a wind load of WL 1500. WL 1500 equals 1500 N/m2, which equals 1146.8 kg, 1.5 tons!

Brakel® Fumetica: fire test B30030 perfectly successful

With this test the oven is heated to 300 degrees within 5 minutes. The
louvred ventilator is then opened automatically. It is then important that the smoke and heat is extracted without obstructions for the next 25 minutes. This proceeded without any problems.

Brakel® Fumetica: aerodynamic very successful

The Fumetica obtained perfect results with the aerodynamic tests too, namely 5.6 m²!

Soft body impact test Brakel® Fumetica in compliance with EN 1873: SB 1200

This is an impact resistance safety test. With this test a 50 kg ball with a diameter of 30 cm is dropped from a height of 2.40 metres onto the closed louvres. These must then remain in position for 10 minutes. The double louvre also passed this test with flying colours.

Certification of fire spread of materials in compliance with EN 13501-1: B-s1,d0

This test determines the degree of fire/smoke resistance of the material. The Fumetica also gained a good result with this test.

Brakel® Fumetica testing the air and water tightness

The Fumetica can be applied everywhere along the coast - under the most extreme circumstances. After all, the product has water tightness class 9A (600 Pa) in compliance with EN 1027/EN 12208 and resistance to wind load class C1 in compliance with EN 12211/EN 12210.
The double louvre system has air permeability class 2 in compliance with the EN 1026/EN 12207 standards.
