Sint Antonius Hospital
The Netherlands, Nieuwegein

A comfortable hospital with natural ventilation

The wishes of the building‘s users took centre stage in the design of the St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein. Central starting points: patients must feel welcome and there must be an optimum use made of sunlight, without it getting too warm.

The solution was found among other things in the application of solar control glazing in the two BA-2 lean-to roofs and in the ends of the connecting gable roofs. Also aesthetic Inova window ventilation have been integrated in the facades and Ventria top hung windows in the glass constructions for the supply and extraction of heat. Eura louvred ventilators have been included in the architectural roof for air extraction. The systems open and close depending on the temperature.
